I am taking a break right now from cleaning my bedroom. I am attempting to get my house "showable" one room at a time. Since my husband will be coming home on Thursday after being gone for almost a month, I decided to start with the bedroom to make it more romantic. I don't think he will really care the state of the bedroom after the lights are out, but hey, I'm making the effort here!
I am finding a lot of things that don't have homes. I pick it up and say to myself, "Where does this go?" I really can't answer myself. What is it doing in my home then? All the little stuff adds up fast. Screws, picture hanging hardware, nuts, bolts, wire caps, these are all things from my husband emptying his pockets at night. I don't know what to do with it all. Is it okay to just chuck it? Other various odds and ends are kids books that have been ripped and waiting for repair, baby socks, old knick knacks, trinkets, old jewelry, the list goes on and on. How did this stuff all end up in my bedroom?
I should be a little proud of me, though. I threw away two old stinky pillows and a rollershade that was all wrinkled. And a plastic crate that was falling apart. The room will feel much better when I am done. It will feel more restful I hope. I want it to feel like a sanctuary to hide in at the end of the day.
Well my break time is up. I need to use this precious time when the kids are off at Grandma's house. And I still need to squeeze in a nap before the day is done.
